If you or someone you know is struggling with addiction, life-saving help is available at the EPIC Recovery Center.
RECOVERY STARTS HERE
At EPIC, we focus on a person-centered approach that respects your choices and guides you through recovery with compassion. Our experienced team provides quality care to help clients overcome challenges and resist relapse. Substance use affects millions of Americans and their loved ones. If you or someone you know is struggling with substance use or co-occurring disorders, you’re not alone. EPIC offers the tools for a more peaceful and productive life.
The EPIC Recovery Center offers several treatment services: Detoxification, Outpatient, Residential Treatment, and Sober Living options. Addiction is treatable. People Recover. We can help.
We opened the EPIC Recovery Center in 2014 in order to provide a three-tiered program of detoxification, residential and outpatient treatment services.
While we are grateful to be able to offer this service, the need to enhance and expand continues to grow.
Your investment in the EPIC Recovery Center will allow us to reach even further in continuing to help some of our community’s most vulnerable citizens in their battle against addiction.

Detox rids the body of alcohol and/or drugs. Theraphy builds new ways to manage the things that led to the use of alcohol and/or drugs. Both are needed. The EPIC Recovery Center program is three-tiered, offering detoxification, residential, and outpatient treatment services. We base our treatment plans on individual needs and accept patients who are at risk for physical withdrawal. Withdrawal is treated using medication in conjunction with individual and group therapy. Overcoming addiction can be an intensive and long endeavor. Our trained medical staff will be there for you every step of the way in your journey, providing compassion, support and healing.
Completing drug or alcohol detox is a major accomplishment, but it isn’t the final step. Whether it’s days, weeks, months or years after leaving detox, individuals in recovery are still at risk for relapse. Having a co-occurring disorder — a mental health condition that occurs along with a substance use disorder — can also increase the risk of a relapse. Our aftercare programs are designed to help minimize that risk and keep you moving forward on your recovery path.
From the time you enroll in our Detox Center whether to treat alcoholism or a drug addiction, our team will be there every step of the way, preparing you for the days following your successful completion of the program. With therapeutic support and specialized group therapy, you can maintain your hard-won sobriety and build a solid foundation for recovery.
Our residential treatment program is highly recommended, especially for individuals who lack a supportive home environment and are particularly susceptible to relapse. During this program, patients stay for up to 30 days. This transitional level of care focuses on relapse prevention therapy, addresses unresolved personal issues, and provides a safe and secure environment where patients can learn and practice recovery skills. We also encourage the involvement of family members or support structures to enhance the recovery process and help establish a more supportive social network outside of treatment. Patients will receive individual therapy and have the opportunity to attend recovery-focused meetings in the community.
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, every day, more than 90 Americans die after overdosing on opioids. Opioids are a class of drugs that include the illegal drug heroin, synthetic opioids such as fentanyl, and pain relievers available legally by prescription, such as oxycodone (OxyContin®), hydrocodone (Vicodin®), codeine, morphine, and many others.
Any long-term use can put someone at risk of addiction, even if the substance is used as prescribed. Many people who use opioids will develop a tolerance to them–a phenomenon that can trigger the cycle of addiction. This means that the same amount of the drug no longer has the same effect as it once did. When this occurs, people routinely take more and more of the substance to elicit the desired response. This ever-increasing dosing places one at great risk for overdose.
St. Johns County and surrounding areas are being affected by the opioid/heroin epidemic. Opioid addiction can be very frightening – not only for the individual with the addiction but for their family and friends as well. Breaking free of opioid, heroin, or prescription drug abuse takes effort and it’s difficult to do safely alone. EPIC can help and at the same time, we can provide support to family members.
The number one reason for relapses is finding a safe and sober living environment where one can thrive. That’s why EPIC offers a welcoming sober living space for up to five women and eight men. Our sober living homes create a warm, drug—and alcohol-free atmosphere that helps newly sober people feel supported and at home. Our program, Second Wind, is currently exclusive to EPIC clients. However, we’re excited to share our upcoming Second Wind Village! We’re working hard to create more sober living homes and provide even more support for individuals and families. We can’t wait to welcome you!

EPIC is excited to announce that our Second Wind Transitional Housing project is underway thanks to legislative funding (under the Opioid Settlement Trust) awarded during the 2024 Florida legislative session. We plan on having them completed by the end of 2029.
In Phase One of the project is in the process of purchasing property with plans to build four homes: a men’s home, a women’s home, a home for women with children, and a manager’s home. Give us a total of 24 beds.
Since 2018, EPIC has offered sober living homes called Second Wind, which has one men’s and one women’s house. Sober-living homes support individuals in recovery from substance use through a recovery-focused atmosphere that assists residents in working towards an independent, substance-free lifestyle.
Our Second Wind residents are detox clients who have completed their treatment program. However, they still need support to strengthen and maintain their sobriety. They need safe, recovery-supportive environments that also promote personal responsibility and the development of essential life skills.
Our vision for the Second Wind Village is to build additional sober living homes on the property and provide structured, safe environments for those in recovery.
As an EPIC supporter, there are opportunities to support this endeavor and help more people in recovery lead successful, independent lives.
