Our Medication Assisted Recovery Services (MARS) offers medication assisted treatment (also known as MAT) for those with an opioid or alcohol addiction.
MARS combines medication with counseling, care coordination and peer support — a wraparound program to ensure the best possible outcomes. Studies show that MAT, combined with counseling, is the most effective form of treatment for opioid use disorders.
A common misconception associated with MAT is that it substitutes one drug for another. Instead, the medications used in our MARS Program relieve the withdrawal symptoms and cravings that cause chemical imbalances in the body.
EPIC provides a safe and controlled level of medication to overcome the misuse of opioid and/or alcohol.
In our MAT, we use medications – Buprenorphine (Bupe) and Naltrexone (Vivitrol) that suppress and reduce cravings for the misused substance. Medications can come in a pill form or sublingual tablet that is placed under the tongue. Under our program, medications are administered in conjunction with counseling, care coordination, and peer support services. We recognize that addiction is both physical and psychological and therefore want to be able to monitor the progress of each client during their treatments.
Medications can help manage withdrawal symptoms, reduce cravings, and stabilize brain chemistry, making it easier for individuals to engage in and benefit from counseling and behavioral therapies.
This integrated approach enhances the chances of long-term recovery by addressing both the physiological and psychological aspects of addiction.
Ultimately, MARS offers a hopeful path to recovery. The program provide individuals with the tools and support needed to rebuild their lives, emphasizing empowerment. With the right medication and therapeutic care, many people find renewed strength and optimism, achieving a healthier, more fulfilling life.
