#GivingTuesday – November 28th, 2017

On Tuesday, November 28th, we will be participating in a national day of generosity, Giving Tuesday. Our goal is to raise the amount needed to provide a bed in our Recovery Center for a 3-night stay: $1,500. Due to the increased costs of medical treatment, some of our patients are left unable to pay for quality care. With the opioid crisis being at an all-time high, the need for better access to care is at the forefront of our minds. Supporting EPIC in any capacity that you can means that you will be assisting someone in their recovery journey and saving a life.

Why donate? According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, every day, more than 90 Americans die after overdosing on opioids, 14 of which occur in Florida. Any long-term use can put someone at risk of addiction, even if the substance is used as prescribed. Many people who use opioids will develop a tolerance to them–a phenomenon that can trigger the cycle of addiction. This means that the same amount of the drug no longer has the same effect as it once did. When this occurs, people routinely take more and more of the substance to elicit the desired response. This ever-increasing dosing places one at great risk for overdose.

On this day of giving, we are presenting you the opportunity to save a life. Supporting EPIC during this upcoming Giving Tuesday event is a fantastic opportunity to give back to your community and make a HUGE impact on the lives of our patients. Drug and alcohol addiction can often be the difference between life and death, the EPIC Recovery Center is a place between, a place to recover.
